  20. To print this file using notepad, change the left margin to .5 and the 
  21. right margin to .0 in Page Setup... under the File option. Then print.

  24. 2.  Known Issues With Connectix Videophone Viewer
  25. ===========================================================================
  26. The Video compressor NSVideo v3.1 from National Semiconductor can only be
  27. viewed for a maximum of two minutes.  With the full Connectix VideoPhone
  28. product, this limitation is removed.  While viewing a video stream using
  29. the NSVideo v3.1 video compressor, a message box will pop up after two
  30. minutes stating that the viewing time has expired.
  31. There is no viewing limit on any of the other video compressors.
  32.  
  33. If you are currently a Connectix Videophone user, be aware of the
  34. following:
  35.  
  36. A.  Do not run the Connectix Videophone software and the Viewer software at
  37.     the same time.  If you have the full Connectix Videophone software, you
  38.     do not need the viewer.
  39.  
  40. B.  Do not install the Connectix Videophone Launcher from the Viewer into
  41.     the Startup Group if you are currently using the Launcher.  There
  42.     should only be one instance of the launcher application in the Startup
  43.     group.
  44.  
  45. C.  It is recommended that you do not install the Connectix VideoPhone
  46.     Viewer into the same directory that Connectix VideoPhone was installed.
  47.     This may cause conflicts with the software.

  50. 3.  User Manual Addendum
  51. ===========================================================================
  52. This section includes minor changes and new features to the Connectix
  53. VideoPhone Users Manual.
  54.  
  55. ISDN - How to dial two B-channels (data)
  56. ----------------------------------------
  57. In order to establish a connection using both B-channels for the Connectix
  58. VideoPhone Viewer, the both ISDN phone numbers should be entered in the
  59. address book with the '&' character between them.
  60.     ex.    555-1212&555-1313
  61.  
  62. This will try to make a connection using both B-channels for Data.
  63.  
  64.  
  65. ISDN - How to dial one B-channel voice and one B-channel data
  66. -------------------------------------------------------------
  67. This feature has only been tested with the BitSURFR Pro ISDN modem.  This
  68. feature allows Connectix VideoPhone Viewer to make a voice call on one
  69. B-channel (using a telephone plugged into the BitSURFR Pro's analog port)
  70. and a data connection on the other B-channel.  The ISDN phone numbers
  71. should be entered in the address book with the '*' character between them.

  76. This will place a voice (telephone) call on the second channel and a data
  77. call on the first channel.  Using this configuration, one B-channel is used
  78. by Connectix VideoPhone Viewer for video and the and the audio will be
  79. handled by the voice call.

  82. Address Book Change
  83. -------------------
  84. The address book now has a field for Connection Type.  Connectix VideoPhone
  85. Viewer will attempt to automatically detect which type should be used.  If
  86. however, the selection is incorrect, you may simply select the proper
  87. connection type.  You may now enter your Connectix VideoPhone Viewer
  88. addresses all at once without having to switch communication modes.
  89.  
  90. Also, you can now simply select the user to call and Connectix VideoPhone
  91. Viewer will automatically switch to the proper communication mode and
  92. complete the call.  No more manually changing connection modes!

  95. Modem Dialog in Communications Port Setup
  96. -----------------------------------------
  97. When using the Connectix VideoPhone Viewer in Direct Modem/ISDN mode, the
  98. software will use the default initialization string.  If you encounter
  99. troubles connecting or staying connected to other users, you may
  100. want to select your specific modem.  From the menu, select Settings, 
  101. Preferences, Communications Port Setup, Select the Advanced tab.  In the
  102. lower section, from the list box, select your specific modem.  This should
  103. increase the reliability of the connection.  If your modem is not listed,
  104. please obtain the modem's Manufacturer Name, Brand Name, Model number and
  105. contact Connectix Technical Support.  See 'How to Contact Connectix' below.

  108. 4.  Generic Windows Sockets V1.1
  109. ===========================================================================
  110. If the TCP/IP product that you are using provides a WinSock interface 
  111. (WinSock.DLL), make sure the directory that the file WinSock.DLL is located
  112. in is in your PATH variable (set by autoexec.bat). There should be only one
  113. file named WinSock.DLL in your path at any time.
  114.  
  115. Note that the following TCP/IP products have been approved to run with
  116. the Connectix VideoPhone Viewer:
  117.  
  118.    Windows 95 built in TCP/IP from Microsoft
  119.    Microsoft TCP/IP-32
  120.    TGV Multinet for Windows V1.0.1 or Later
  121.    Trumpet TCP/IP 2.1f or Later
  122.    Ipswitch Acadia VxD V1.1.001 or Later
  123.    NetManage V3.1 or Later
  124.    Frontier Super-TCP V3.00 R2 or Later
  125.    Distinct TCP 3.10 or Later
  126.    Interconn TCP Connect For Windows V3.00 R2 or Later
  127.    FTP PCTCP Version 2.3 or Later

  129. Other TCP/IP products that provide a WinSock.DLL may work with 
  130. Connectix VideoPhone Viewer, but have not been approved and therefore may
  131. require some system parameters to be tuned.  Contact your TCP/IP product
  132. vendor or Connectix VideoPhone Viewer customer support for more information.

  138. Note: When using TCP/IP you must include your own host name and
  139.       address in the host table or domain name server.

  142. 5.  IP Multicast Support

  161. If the TCP/IP product that you are using is "FTP's PC/TCP", you
  162. must make sure that you have PC/TCP Version 2.3 or newer, and that 
  163. WinSock.DLL is in your PATH.  In addition, you must ensure that
  164. the following parameters in the PCTCP.ini file (section 'pctcp
  165. kernel') are set to the following (for ver 2.3 ONLY):

  175. If the TCP/IP product that you are using is Distinct TCP,

  183. c. Frontier Technologies - Super-TCP
  184. ------------------------------------
  185. If the TCP/IP product that you are using is Frontier's Super-TCP,
  186. you must be using Version 3.00 R2 or newer.  You must also use the
  187. DLL Kernel, NOT the TSR Kernel.  Two parameters must also be changed 
  188. for optimal performance.  These parameters are:
  189.  
  190.    The TCP Parameter "Maximum Window" must be set to 30720.  This
  191.    parameter is accessible in the Super-TCP Configuration, TCP/IP
  192.    Parameters Dialog Box.
  193.  
  194.    The [TCP] Section of the SUPERTCP.INI file in the \WINDOWS
  195.    Subdirectory must have the following line added to it:
  196.  
  197.    VGlueD Number of Buffers = 14

  210. If the TCP/IP product that you are using is TGV Multinet for Windows,
  211. you must edit the [TCP/IP] section in the CVPHONE.INI file.  The
  212. CVPHONE.INI file is located in the C:\CVP directory (default).

  221. 7.  Bi-Directional Audio Support (Full Duplex)
  222. ===========================================================================
  223. Connectix VideoPhone Viewer supports Full Duplex audio.  The software will
  224. automatically detect if your sound card supports Full or Half Duplex and
  225. operate accordingly.  The following is a list of Windows compatible sound
  226. cards that support Full Duplex and have been tested and verified by
  227. Connectix:
  228.  
  229.     Turtle Beach Tropez
  230.     Turtle Beach Tropez Plus
  231.     Advanced Gravis Ultrasound MAX
  232.     CATboard by VocalTech

  234. There may be other sound cards that support Full Duplex audio.  They should
  235. work with Connectix VideoPhone Viewer however they have not been tested.

  245. they will conflict with another card.

  259. In the UltraSound Mixer, select the dash in the upper left hand corner
  260. (the control menu) in the gray box to pull down the menu option list. 
  261. Click on Select recording source and select either mic or line-in based
  262. on your equipment.

  264. Adjust the gain and volume controls for best performance by testing with
  265. the Sound Recorder from the Accessories group.  After you adjust these
  266. settings, the Connectix VideoPhone Viewer will use these settings
  267. automatically.

  270. Turtle Beach Tropez

  272. When installing the Tropez sound card, choose Enhanced Full Duplex Support.
